KY Rusty

~ Rusty ~

They are a county pound and can only keep animals a limited amount of time. Rusty had been brought into the shelter by his owners. They said they could no longer take care of him. Rusty was described on their Petfinder page as "a really sweet guy that just wants to be loved and would love to play and go for walks."

It was a very tough road, and even with much help from Nora, Mary Jane and Pam from Golden Friends Rescue, there was little hope for Rusty.... until at Susannah's suggestion, we contacted RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota). (http://www.ragom.org)

Rusty was accepted by RAGOM and transported the following weekend by Golden Friends Rescue from KY to MN!

He was accompanied by three more Goldens and Golden Retriever Mixes who came into the Pike County shelter that week. We called Angie, the RAGOM foster coordinator, and she accepted all three of them too!

These four dogs owe their lives to Golden Friends Rescue and RAGOM, especially Rusty who was due to be euthanized. Golden Friends Rescue made it possible for all four to have a brand new start. Thanks so much to everyone at GFR for doing this, and thanks to Susannah for suggesting RAGOM. A huge thank you to RAGOM for taking in Rusty, Emmi, Chance, Scarlet.

We have an update with great news!

Rusty met a wonderful family (previous RAGOM adopters) and they want to make Rusty part of their family. He will have two parents and two human brothers to take him on walks, play with him, and teach him everything he needs to know. Rusty is one lucky boy!

Congratulations to all!!

Visit our Rescue Stories page and read about Emmi, Scarlet & Chance, too!
