Rusty

~ Rusty ~

I first tried contacting golden rescues in the area of the shelter to see if they could take Rusty into their program.  All of them were full. So I contacted rescues out of the area, knowing that if they agreed to take him, we would have to put together a transport!!  RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota) agreed to take Rusty into their program!!!  Yeah!!

Now we had to get Rusty from Indiana to Minnesota--a distance over 500 miles.  This would be one of the longest transports we had compiled. We worked out the legs of the transport, and then I posted it on the Internet, with Rusty's story.

It didn't take long for almost all of the legs to fill up with people willing to help get Rusty to RAGOM!!! Now we just had to hope the weather would cooperate because you never know what it will be like in mid-March in Minnesota!! Rusty was a great travel companion according to everyone that helped him. He finally made it to Iowa where he was going to spend the night!!! He still had two more legs the next day to get to his finale destination. We had run into a problem getting them filled, and his Iowa mom said he could stay until we got someone to transport him to his foster mom. But as it turned out, he wormed his way into her heart and she agreed to be his foster mom for RAGOM. Luckily she was already an approved foster mom for RAGOM, so it all worked out the way it was supposed too.

He was later adopted by a wonderful family with four children who love him dearly. His life was saved thanks to many many people working hard to get him to a place he needed to be.  Thank you!!
